This course will focus on job planning, layout, creation of templates, and installation of flat drywall grid ceiling and soffits. Stick built and modular suspended ceilings and soffits will be fabricated using various drywall grid components. This introductory 5-hour course covers the fundamentals of computer use. Students will be introduced to Microsoft Office and Google programs, including typing, spreadsheet and slideshow applications. This course presents the OSHA regulations for scaffolding, including fall protection requirements. This course is a 4-hour workshop that explores the peculiar hazards of respirable crystalline silica (RCS). The definition of silica, its properties, and the dangers it presents are all described. The particular health hazards are also presented along with ways in which UBC members can protect their health and the health of their families and loved ones. The various ways of controlling exposure, the responsibilities of employers, and the standards and regulations applied by various governmental agencies are also discussed.

This course will provide a general description of the types, design, components, and installation methods for photovoltaic systems used in various renewable energy applications.
