Process Overview

Step 1: Declaration of Interest
Submit your Declaration of Interest. You'll need digital versions of your legal ID and high school diploma or GED to upload with your form. TIP: Use your phone to take a photo of these documents. When taking photos, place documents on a light-colored, well-lit, flat surface.
Step 2: Applicant Questionnaire
Submit your Applicant Questionnaire. The questionnaire takes 10-15 minutes to complete. Do not leave any blank answers. After submitting, you'll receive an email within 2 to 3 days to schedule your Math Assessment. To prepare, download the Zoom Cloud Meetings app on your phone.
Step 3: Math Appointment
Submit your Math Assessment Appointment form, and we'll send you a reservation date for your assessment. Read the rules carefully: if you break them during the assessment, you'll be disqualified without warning. Note: you must score a minimum of 38/50 on the 60-minute Math Assessment to continue your application process.
Step 4: Math Assessment
The Math Assessment evaluates your ability to make calculations found in general construction work and must be completed without the use of a calculator or other aid. You'll need two devices for the assessment, one of which is a smartphone to serve as the proctoring device. Score a 76% or higher to pass the 50-question assessment.
Step 5: Interview
Once you pass the Math Assessment, you'll be interviewed by an HCATF Training Coordinator. The interview will help determine a your potential, your attitude toward work, and other factors important to your success in the program.
Step 6: Indenturing
If you pass all required steps, you'll be scheduled for indenturing. Indenturing is the formal process where you sign your apprenticeship agreement and commit to the responsibilities of the program. The number indentures is based on industry needs, so the time from your application to your first day on the job is not immediate.
